6 Must See Designs By Klaus Burgel

My jaw simply dropped when I came across these designs by Klaus Burgel. If only I could buy each and everyone of his pieces.

Burgel, is inspired by nature and the sensual properties of the artist’s materials, which can be blatantly seen in the way he present his pieces. They are either presented in an unpolished state to show the impoverished appearance of the material, or in it’s utterly brilliant state.

I just love his amazing weighted pendants made out of semi-precious stones and gold.

Bright Pink and Beaming

Today is another incredibly hot and sweltering day in Toronto, but great for taking photos. So hopefully when I have made more pieces, I will be able to take some fun shots of them. As for this very random post, I have decided to show you guys a picture of a very interesting product I found on my discovery and learning the skills of metal work.

Here is a product called Kool Jool, it is an insanely bright goopy pink. It is designed to protect certain semi-precious stones during the soldering and heating process. I took a picture to post up for you guys when I was using it for the first time.

I was lucky enough the first time that I applied it properly and did not burn my stones, however I did fail on soldering the joint I wanted as I was being very cautious of the stones.

Note: The pink goop gets everywhere, and it is a very messy process. I however don’t mind getting a little down and dirty.

Nature And Architecture Inspired Earrings

I Just added two new earring designs to my store. One was inspired by nature, the other by the structural quality in architecture.

Architectural Earring

Hopefully it won't rain today as the weather is not the greatest, but other than that have a great Monday.

Getting my first editorial snippet

On Aug 7, 2010, one of the top trend hunters Megan Young posted the first editorial snippet for my small business. I got so excited when I heard about it, and part of me was very proud because starting up your own business can be a very risky venture.

I find that as long as your willing to put in the time and effort, you will reap the rewards. Other than that I am keeping my fingers crossed, and hoping for the best of luck.

Here is a quick screen shot of the published posting.

3 New Designs To RavenWorksCa + Special Offer

There are now three new designs added to my store on Etsy, these are the first of many earring designs to come. Please let me know if there is a particular style you are interested in seeing, or if there is a particular style already present that you want to see more of.

One of my favorites is the ‘Nut-Brown Victoria Earring’, as this was one of my little achievements. Made out of delicate dried flowers and paired with a silver head pin, this makes an elegant combination.

I was inspired to create this piece after seeing ‘The Young Victoria’, and all the beautiful floral accessories present.

Special Offer:

As an opening special, my first five customers will receive a complimentary ‘Hot and Spicy Treat’. Check out the photos below for the item.

3 New Reasons To Check Out Etsy

Etsy has been around for a long time and is the leader in unique handcrafted products. Is it passe? Has it past its prime? These are the two main questions everyone asks. I personally don't think that etsy is passe, I think the problem is that there are so many sellers, it is difficult to know where to start looking for the product that you want.

There are just too many beautiful things to choose from, so where do you start?
- search by topic eg. Organic
- search by colour
- Check out handpicked items

Here are three new reasons in my opinion to check out Etsy again:

- It is a great place to test market a new business that you want to set up—reasonable posting costs and monthly sales commission.

- Great way to find new talent and craftsman

- An alternative to generic products you find in malls and stores

There are also three new reasons to check out my etsy again, below is the reason why:
There are so many jewelry sellers on etsy now, who are all so talented but how do you choose a great piece that will be timeless—one that you can add to any wardrobe? This is something that I am concerned with when I invest in a beautiful piece of jewelry.

Here are a few key things that I look out for:

- I usually want something very distinctive and different, not necessarily one of a kind but unique

- I generally want something that generates conversation, even over coffee

- A piece that is well designed

- Something that does not rust and can easily be cleaned to return to its pristine state

What do you look out for?
